From Hamburg roots to a chalet in the mountains
Chalet Haus Hamburg in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was built in the 1930s by a Hamburg architect and still carries its founders’ roots today. What began as a guesthouse has, over generations, grown into a special mountain retreat. Tradition, personal stories and careful development shape the house to this day.
The beginnings
In the early 1930s, the house was built by Richard Kloth and named after the founding family’s home city — a piece of Hamburg right in the middle of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. As early as 1934, "Haus Hamburg" opened its doors as a guesthouse. Run by Käthe Kloth and Meta Peters, it was, from the very start, a place of encounter and hospitality.
Anneliese Groes
Took over the house and ran it with great dedication for many years. Step by step, the building was modernised and adapted to guests’ needs. What once began with very few sanitary facilities grew into a comfortable guesthouse — without losing its personal character.
Sabine Hinze
Today the house is run by Sabine Hinze, who reinterprets it with great care and a modern touch. Spacious rooms, stylish details and numerous places to retreat define the chalet in its present form. The original concept of hospitality remains — complemented by modern comfort and a special sense of home.
